Tips for this tour

After disembarkation, you will be met at the port by your private guide and driver. Drive about half an hour to the ancient city of Ephesus. Being one of the largest and most important port city in Roman Empire, Ephesus was one of the prosperous city with a population approaching 250.000.

The tour of Ephesus is going to be a walking tour from its Upper Gate down to the ancient Harbour area. Walking along the collonaded streets helps us to get the feeling for what life was like in Roman times. Ephesus is among the best-preserved cities of the Mediterranean world. Eventhough only %25 of the city was unearthened, we have enough remains to get the idea of living Ephesus like Odeon, Hadrian Temple, Public lavatories, Stream Baths of Scholastica, luxurious terrace houses decorated with mosaics and frescoes, shops, avenues, impressive Library of Celcius and the Grand Theater. You can imagine yourself as a Ephesian either sitting on the Odeon  talking about the important affairs of the city or strolling along the shady collonaded streets of State Agora discussing  politics or philosophy. Or listening the preach of St.Paul in the Grand Theater.

After visiting Ephesus ancient city, you will drive through the olive trees up to a charming hillside village of Sirince for lunch. Lunch is followed by visiting House of Virgin Mary and the Basilica of St. John.

Besides being an archeological site, Ephesus is an important Christian site housing the Basilica of St. John the Divine from 6th century and the house where the Virgin Mary is supposed to have spent the last years of her life. Also it was a major centre of St. Paul’s missionary journerys to Asia Minor.

Tour ends at the cruise terminal.
